Meet Dr. Tara

Dr. Tara grew up in New Orleans as a sensitive and shy child, feeling she couldDr. Tara Alexander understand others, but did not feel understood, validated or seen. This caused a bottleneck of emotions that came out in the wrong ways, exacerbating the problem.  People applied labels that didn’t fit, and she lacked the communication skills to express her true nature. At the age of 16, she decided to become a counselor to figure herself out and help others do the same.

Dr. Tara practiced as an LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) in every aspect of therapy practice for twenty years and as an award-winning college professor for eight.  She earned an MSW at Boston College and a Ph.D. at the University at Texas - Austin. In her therapy practice, she partnered with clients to help them understand themselves and grow into the lives they truly wanted. Becoming a Communication Coach was the natural next step.  She earned her Associate Certified Coaching credential (ACC) from the International Coaching Federation, which is the gold standard in professional coaching.

Dr. Tara coaches clients to communicate authentically, present dynamically and lead effectively.  Her clients report transformative experiences as she encourages them to set bold goals and asks the deeper questions that keep them stuck.

When she is not coaching, Dr. Tara is rock-climbing, paddleboarding or hiking in the beautiful Colorado outdoors. She volunteers with the Adaptive Climbing Team at her climbing gym, coaching people with disabilities who like to climb.  She also loves making art and has three rescue cats who sometimes make appearances on video sessions.

Dr. Tara's communication coaching clients are talking...

“A good coach comes from someone with extensive life experience and training. Dr. Tara is that kind of person. Her style is warm and down-to-earth while being non-judgmental. However, she is not afraid of asking the hard questions.  If you want a coach that is going to stretch you in very positive ways to maximize your success, Dr. Tara is that coach.”  -- Pat Y.

“I’m so lucky to have found Dr. Alexander and to have had the opportunity to be the recipient of her personal coaching!  She was able to help me dig in and define what the heart of the bigger issue I came to her with was and in doing so made it possible for me to work through some possible solutions with her guidance. I will definitely be back and I would emphatically encourage anyone who is feeling like they may have misplaced their life roadmap to get in and spend some time working with Dr. Alexander!”  -- Carmen W.

“When taking steps to evaluate your organization's current state and planning for the future, you need an experienced, skilled, and collaborative partner. Dr. Tara has proven to be that partner. She took the time to help us formulate goals and address our concerns. She developed a plan to assess our organizational and personal intercultural competence and used this baseline to recommend cross-cultural training. Under the guidance of Dr. Tara, we are building our capability to shift perspective and adjust behavior while fostering a more inclusive environment. I highly recommend Dr. Tara's coaching services.”  -- Stephen R.
